‍On Friday, 10 April, we officially opened our new premises at Kemicentrum in Lund! More than a hundred people, including founders, partners, member companies, researchers and students attended the celebratory event.

“This move marks an important continuation for Biotech Heights! Having a physical place to meet, collaborate and organise activities is key to build knowledge, come together around shared issues, and start new projects together, says Emma Nordell, Biotech Heights Director.

In her opening speech, she asked participants to raise their glasses to biotechnology, collaboration and Biotech Heights’ physical premises. She especially highlighted the fact that Kemicentrum, where Biotech Heights is located, is a place where students, researchers and industry organically meet, and have met for many decades.

“Everyday hundreds of students and many researchers pass through the doors at Kemicentrum. This creates a critical mass of people that can become engaged in what we do. The fact that Lund University Pre-Pilot Plant is also based here, makes our location even more strategic!”

Her hope is that Biotech Heights will become a place for partners and members to make their own. The premises will be open for meetings, workshops, informal gatherings and student activities.

“We want you to build this together with us. Have your investor meetings here, or your research workshops! Have a coffee and discuss new projects. Biotech Heights will become what we make it!”

She and the rest of the team left the inauguration event energised and excited – ready for Biotech Heights’ next phase.

“Within Biotech Heights and in Sweden, we have what is needed to truly contribute to the development of industrial biotechnology! We have high-ranked research; unique upscaling infrastructures, and engaged startups and dedicated industries," says Emma Nordell.

“All of us involved share the same core motivations: curiosity and the ambition to turn knowledge into real‑world impact. Now with our new premises we finally have a place to connect organisations and people to make things happen!”
